Climber Story: Stef Myr - Dynamite Starfish

To start, tell us a little bit about yourself

Hi, my name is Stef and I'm 29 years old. I manage a bouldering gym and climb outside on my days off!

How did you start climbing?

I met a cute boy in college. We are married now 🥰

What impact has climbing had on your life?

It’s my career. It’s my professional and personal life.

What are some other things you do that you find most fulfilling?

I love love LOVE routesetting. I love it. I love creating movement. I love the trial and error of trying to force a move. I love the challenge of reaching a specific difficulty. Finally, I love watching climbers push themselves hard and the satisfaction on their faces when they send.

This is one of my greatest joys of the industry. If you ever meet any of your local routesetters, give them some thanks and encouragement. Routesetting is hard on the body & quite tiring. But we love it.

When I'm not climbing, I also enjoy camping, music, hiking, and cooking.

If you could tell the world one thing, what would it be?

Please see a therapist.

Favorite thing about Dynamite Starfish?

Amazing creativity & design!

Is there something you're working on that you'd like to tell our community about? We love a good story.

Well, I recently just sent my biggest project! So, nothing planned at the moment.
