12 Awesome Gift Ideas for Climbers in 2024

Ohhhh, holiday season. Here we are again.

Does brainstorming a list of perfect gifts for climbers leave you as puzzled as that pink "V4" at the climbing gym? We can totally relate.

So we decided to ask the most enthusiastic group of climbers we know for some help — the Dynamite Starfish community!

Scroll on to see their picks for the best gift ideas for climbers in 2024!

A gift card to the physical therapist

Leave it to the Dynamite Starfish community to respond to our Climber Questions in the most unexpected, ironic ways...

But for real. Most of us aren't in our teens or 20s anymore. That gnarly whipper you just took? Yeah, you'll probably be feeling it for a few days.

If your climbing partner is always complaining about their aches and pains, a gift card for a session with a sports masseuse, physical therapist, or chiropractor might be just what they need — that and a bottle of Advil.

Session with a movement coach

Whether you're a beginner climber or a veteran rock warrior, getting a fresh perspective on your climbing abilities from the eyes of a climbing coach is a humbling experience.

These folks are trained to help climbers hone their techniques and spot areas for improvement that could be holding them back from reaching their climbing goals.

For this gift idea, we recommend speaking with the staff at your local rock climbing gym about arranging a coaching session.

A climbing journal

Goodbye apps, hello pen & paper! A journal is the perfect place to jot down training plans, beta sequences, Type 2 Fun stories, and anything else climbing-related.

We absolutely love this idea from @mountain_matty_canada and we think your climbing partner will too!

Start by grabbing a hardcover notebook from your local craft store. Then throw in an expressive pack of Dynamite Starfish stickers

Lattice Climbing Assessment (Remote)

Have a partner who's really into training for climbing or feeling stuck in a plateau?

The folks over at Lattice Training have created a fully remote, intensive climbing assessment that can be adapted for climbers at any level...and it's only $30!

Climbers complete a series of tests in their home gym before sending the results to Lattice to be analyzed for strengths and weaknesses.

Coaching plans aren't included, but the assessment can help you highlight things to work on in the future.

Fun colored quickdraws, carabiners, or slings!

Add a little pizzazz to your sport climbing gear with some purple or rainbow quickdraws like these from Wild Country

Trango also offers packs of colorful carabiners that can be used with different colored slings.

Support your local rock climbing guides

Outdoor climbing areas wouldn't exist without the often-overlooked work of local rock climbing guides. These are the folks who prepare boulders and routes for climbing, develop trails, and compile information.

Buying a guidebook is a great place to start. You could also make a donation for gear placements/anchors/rescues if your climbing partner isn't big on gift-giving.

Local rock gyms or climber coalition groups will happily put you in touch with the right people.

Chalk!

Remember that feeling as a kid of getting socks for Christmas? Totally lame until you realize you're wearing them EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Climbing chalk is one of those practical gift ideas for rock climbers where you literally can't go wrong.

Friction Labs, Rungne, Metolius, Black Diamond, Crux Power...snag your partner their favorite brand of powder or a bottle of liquid chalk for their next climbing sesh.

Skin Care Kit

Is it still rock climbing if you don't stare at your skin every time you come off a boulder?

Probably not.

So why not help your partner embrace the climber manicure lifestyle with a personalized skin care kit!

Start with a toiletry bag or pouch, then add some essentials such as:

     - Athletic tape
     - Hand balm and skin repair cream (e.g. Rhinoskin or Joshua Tree)
     - A skin filer (like the Crux Taco)
     - Cuticle Scissors
     - Nail clippers
     - Massage Ring
     - Warmup donut (like this one from Black Diamond)

One-of-a-kind toiletry bag or chalk bag

Talking about chalk and skin care kits...how about a handmade bag that will really stand out at the climbing crag or rock gym!

Mattea from @monkeyfloweroutdoor — featured in our Climber Story series last spring — creates unique pieces using 100% repurposed textiles.

Whether you're looking for chalk buckets, chalk bags, fanny packs, or utensil sets, Mattea has you covered!

Upcycled Climbing Ropeware

Our friend Shelby over at Cactus to Pine works with local climbers and climbing gyms to get their retired ropes back out into the world.

Once ropes reach their last string (oops...had to make a pun), Shelby upcycles them into can koozies, bowls, drink harnesses, and more!

Climbers, camping enthusiasts, and hikers will love these. Send beers anyone!?

Reach out directly to @cactus_to_pine for availability.

Tiny Holds Jewelry & Croc Charms

When we say tiny rock climbing holds, we mean it! Imagine your favorite crimps, pinches, jugs, and slopers in miniature versions.

Britney from @tiny_holds — also featured in our Climber Story series earlier this fall — is the artist behind these fun-sized climbing gifts which make a perfect stocking stuffer.

Available as earrings, Croc charms, necklaces, zipper pulls, key rings and more.

A Dynamite Starfish shirt...duh!

No list of best gift ideas for climbers would be complete without a lucky send shirt that can be used again and again wherever your climbing adventures take you!

With original designs on 30 tees, 8 long sleeves, and 12 crewneck sweatshirts, there's something for every climbing personality. And don't forget the tanks, crops, and kid's sizes!
