Climber Story: Julie Qiao - Dynamite Starfish

To start, tell us a little bit about yourself

Hey everyone, my name is Julie and I'm originally from China. I’m a (old 😢) climber in my 30's and currently work as a data scientist in a tech company.

How did you start climbing?

I started climbing when I was in graduate school. The climbing wall was just so attractive and I couldn't resist giving it a try! I fell in love the first time I pulled myself onto the wall.

What impact has climbing had on your life?

Climbing has had a really big, positive impact on my life. It has made me stronger both physically and mentally. I've also met so many great friends from the climbing community. And most importantly, it makes me happy!

What are some other things you do that you find most fulfilling?

I love traveling and continuing to explore the world.

If you could tell the world one thing, what would it be?

Finding a lifelong interest and hobby is not easy, but I’m glad I’ve found mine. Climbing is so fun!

Favorite thing about Dynamite Starfish?

I love the outfit designs so much.

Is there something you're working on that you'd like to tell our community about? We love a good story.

For about half of the last year, I was living a digital nomad lifestyle, traveling with friends, and climbing everywhere. It was a great life experience.
