Climber Story: Drew Hulsey - Dynamite Starfish

To start, tell us a little bit about yourself

Hey, my name is Drew. I’m a climber based out of Nashville. I’m a full time social worker and climber.

How did you start climbing?

I first saw Free Solo and wondered if I could climb in a gym. I looked up if people of my size could climb and I didn’t find any results. So I went to a gym and tried it out. I fell in love and have been at it for 3 years now.

What impact has climbing had on your life?

It’s completely changed my life! It showed me how important getting outside is. It has led me to travel more and explore. It has grown my community so much as well!

What are some other things you do that you find most fulfilling?

I love to read! I also like to fish.

If you could tell the world one thing, what would it be?

You are worthy no matter what body type you have.

Favorite thing about Dynamite Starfish?

Fun designs!

Is there something you're working on that you'd like to tell our community about? We love a good story.

I’m hoping to start more clinics or events based around the idea that climbing is for everyBODY. I hope to have events soon!
