Climber Interview: Kareemah Batts - Dynamite Starfish

To start, what are a few ways you identify yourself? (some examples: name, age, type of work you do.) But really, anything you believe is important.

Kareemah Batts, 30s, Self-identified roles include: seat-filler, sound piece, peace keeper, friends to the outdoor community.

How did you start climbing?

What impact has climbing had on your life?

EVERYTHING!

What are some other things you do that you find most fulfilling?

Karaoke, taking care of my plants, cooking for myself and others....just simply nourishing people in any way ( heart, body or soul) gives me the most elation, and Van Leeuwans non-dairy ice cream

If you could tell the world one thing, what would it be?

Open your ears and hearts. IF you listen hard enough, at the foundation of our beings we all want and needs the same things in life. Use those foundations to tie us together and preserve our earth and everyone/thing that lives on it.

Is there something you're working on that you'd like to tell our community about? We love a good story.

I wish I could tell you the best stuff im most excited about, but Im not the only one involved and I have to respect the launch procedure. But generally I like the work Im doing with other non-profits besides my own in 2021 and moving forward. Its an exciting year for ROI(Return on Investments) on my favorite environmental and social justice investments.
