Austin Wolff & Link

To start, tell us a little bit about yourself

Hey! My name's Austin and I just turned 30 in August. My cat Link and I moved to the Denver area in April this year so we could climb more and be around like-minded, outdoorsy people.

Together, Link and I have been to 6 national parks, spent a week camping, and gone climbing (even on some 2-3 pitch climbs). Link goes just about everywhere with me!

How did you start climbing?

My best friend from high school introduced me to climbing about 3-4 years ago during Covid. We started all outdoors due to the gyms being closed and I never looked back.

What impact has climbing had on your life?

Climbing has forever changed my life in the best ways possible and hope that it can do the same for others.

When I started climbing, I had just left my job in senior care. I was emotionally broken from that along with the loss of 2 grandparents. At first, climbing was something fun to escape those difficult times, but has since taught me so much more about myself, the sport and others.

I’ve learned how to be more confident, solve complex problems and work with others to solve a problem. I’ve also met my best friends and girlfriend through climbing. It’s changed my life and hope it does the same for you.

Keep sending in anything you set your mind to.

What are some other things you do that you find most fulfilling?

Honestly, I just want to climb rocks, spend time with my cat, develop my climber and life coaching business, and make the most out of the opportunities in life.

We’re currently developing our website Austin Elevated Ascents. If all goes well, it should be launching this October or November 2023.

If you could tell the world one thing, what would it be?

Be more understanding of other people’s situations and perspectives.

Favorite thing about Dynamite Starfish?

Easy! Climb rocks and pet cats.

Dynamite Starfish is the only company that I’ve seen include cats. I also like how y’all are a positive influence on the climbing community.

Is there something you're working on that you'd like to tell our community about? We love a good story.

This can go many directions!

With Link, we want to visit every national park and continent. For myself, I hope to develop a successful coaching business where I can do what I love every day. I also plan to get into more big wall and ice/mixed climbing in the future.

You can find Austin on Instagram at @awolff25 or check out Link's adventures at @link.the.adventure.cat.

Want to get to know more of the climbers in the amazing Dynamite Starfish community? Check out our archive of Climber Stories here.

We hope you have enjoyed these sneak peeks into climbers' lives. We're on a mission to share diverse stories about rock climbing. Let's push the boundaries of who we know as climbers. Let's use our energy and passion for the outdoors to love our environment and inspire one another.

Have someone you think we should feature? Send us a message and let us know!
