Meet our climber of the week: Amanda Jaramillo. Amanda is a boulderer who has been climbing all around California for the last 8 years. Check out her beta videos on YouTube at Girl Beta! We've loved watching her crush, so we wanted to learn a little more about her climbing story:

To start, what are a few ways you identify yourself? (some examples: name, age, pronouns, type of work you do.) But really, anything you believe is important.

My name is Amanda (she/her). I am almost 30 years old and am a boulderer, living in Bishop, CA.

How did you start climbing?

I started climbing 8 years ago when I decided to check out a local climbing gym. I left the gym and went straight to REI to buy my own gear, and the rest is history!

What impact has climbing had on your life?

I honestly don't know where I would be without climbing - it is literally the center of my world! I have learned almost all of my life-lessons through climbing. It has taught me who I am, who I want to be, and is constantly teaching me how to be better. It has also introduced me to life-long friends.

What are some other things you do that you find most fulfilling?

I am very passionate about the community and about the Eastern Sierra. I work for a local non-profit here in Bishop, and I find that to be super fulfilling. It really compliments my love for climbing here, because I am able to give something back to the community. I also just love being outside. If I am not climbing I am trail running, mountain biking, cycling, or exploring new areas with my pups!

If you could tell the world one thing, what would it be?

To always believe that you are capable of anything! To remember that tomorrow is never promised, never let fear stop you from living a life full of passion, love, and laughter!
